You’ll have a unique opportunity to remember your loved ones this summer.
That’s because the annual Memorial Butterfly Release is once again coming to Barry’s Bay.
The event is a joint-project held by both Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care and the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation. Anyone who registers will be able to release a butterfly which symbolizes hope and transformation.
Lisa Hubers, Executive Director of Hospice Palliative Care, says this is a great way to honour loved ones that have passed away.
Last year, Hubers says nearly 275 butterflies were released in memory of loved ones. While the butterfly release is the main attraction of the day, there is plenty more going on.
That’s according to Erin Gienow, Donor Relations Coordinator with the Foundation, who says there will be a variety of things happening throughout the day including one that involves a historical structure.
While the butterfly release isn’t until July 27th, you must register before July 6th in order to get a butterfly as they need to be grown. Butterflies cost $35 each or you can buy three for $100.
To reserve a butterfly you can call the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation at 613-756-3044 ext 217 or online at sfvhfoundation.com
