The recent thaw could cause flooding in low-lying areas of Renfrew County, according to the province.
The area has been put under a Provincial Flood Watch, along with the whole of southern Ontario. The weekend rain is expected to dump up to 30 millimetres of rain on the region over the weekend before moving into Quebec. The province says to expect some flooding in low-lying areas and changing ice conditions.
The news comes as Renfrew Power Generation says there is a very dense snowpack in Algonquin Park. However, they say that water levels in Round and Golden Lakes are consistent with their predictions for the time being.
