Only minor injuries after driver pulled from burning SUV near Pembroke

Two vehicles caught fire and burned after a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and B Line Road in Laurentian Valley Township.   

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP along with Renfrew County Paramedics and the Laurentian Valley Fire Department responded to the collision which occurred on June 25 at 7:40 a.m.    

Police say a northbound pickup truck on B Line Road was trying to turn onto Highway 17 when it was struck by an SUV going southbound on B Line Road.   

The driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was pulled from the burning vehicle by a passerby and was taken to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. 

A section of Highway 17 was closed between Highway 41 and Round Lake Round for approximately two hours due to the collision.
