A 30-year-old Bancroft man faces criminal charges including assaulting a police officer.
Bancroft OPP responded to a trespassing call on Aug. 22 at 5 p.m.
It was reported that a vehicle was trespassing on private property. When the owner went to investigate, the vehicle was driven towards the owner before the person drove away.
Police found the vehicle a short time later and initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation, the officer made an approved screening device demand, but the driver refused and was arrested for his refusal.
The driver was released from custody but while waiting for a tow truck, was arrested again, for assaulting a peace officer.
The accused is in custody, scheduled to appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville today (Monday).
