The Township of Madawaska Valley has closed Combermere’s Mayflower Beach until further notice.
Health services say high levels of bacteria have been found at the beach forcing the closure.
The Combermere Swim Program will be moved to the town’s boat launch until further notice.
The Renfrew County Health Unit says the extreme heat is to blame for the bacterial growth and will have staff on site to monitor the beach until it’s re-opened.
