Our province’s chief electoral officer is promising that things will be ready to go on February 27th, as Ontario holds its first winter election in more than a century.
Greg Essensa (EH-sens-sah) says they’ll be closely monitoring the weather as election day approaches, and they have contingency plans in place…..but he wouldn’t give details.
Because the election is only four weeks away, there will only be three days of advance voting instead of the usual ten…..February 20th through the 22nd.
There will be 124 local voting offices established…..one for each riding.
Essensa says Elections Ontario will be hiring more than 55-thousand election workers and will establish more than seven-thousand voting locations for the province’s 10.8-million eligible voters.
