Five men are facing $11,500 in fines for illegally hunting a cow moose.
This includes one man from Bancroft who has been fined $3,000, and another from Maynooth who has been fined $1,000.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says two unlicensed men shot the moose in Lake St. Peter, and fired from a road.
After shooting the moose, it was left in a ditch while it was still alive, so the men could get a seal from the three other parties involved.
The incident happened last October.
The MNRF has also fined two Maple Leaf men for letting their dogs chase deer.
It happened in the New Carlow area between December and January.
The MNRF says the men were fined because their dogs had been allowed to roam free and chase white-tailed deer during the closed hunting season.
Both men were charged $500 apiece.
