Kashub Day Festival Changes Venue Over Weather Concerns

One of the Madawaska Valley’s first large summer events is moving venues this year.

The Kashub Day Festival will be moving to the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre due to concerns of heavy rain and damage to the Wilno Heritage Park Grounds.

Recreation and Community Development Coordinator Paul Nopper says the event helps to officially ring in the summer season and is an important one for culture and heritage in the area.

One of the event’s organizers Dave Schulist says the change in venue will not affect the schedule of events.

Shulist says the only thing affected by the change will be the Canada 150 Stonefence which is currently at the park.

The festival kicks off on Saturday at 11:00am in the PJY.
