Flows from Bark Lake Dam Greatly Reduced, Plan for Sandbag Disposal Coming Today

Ontario Power Generation has greatly reduced the amount of water the Bark Lake Dam is releasing.

Water levels across the board on the Madawaska River system and Kamaniskeg Lake are down and will continue to decline.

Residents in Palmer Rapids impacted by double inflows from its dam and the York River will also see a sharper decline in water levels.

The Township of Madawaska Valley is warning any boaters to be careful of debris as many docks, trees and other debris may be floating in the lakes and waterways.

Information on sandbag disposal will be available later today following a special council meeting.
