Budget Presentation Breaks Down Where Every Tax Dollar Goes for Township

The Township of Madawaska Valley is shedding some light on its 2017 municipal budget.

A presentation by Treasurer and Deputy Clerk Brenda Sabatine shows how the township’s money is slated to be spent and how assessments influence taxes.

The municipal budget was approved last month with a tax levy increase just shy of one per cent for residents.

Sabatine says out of every dollar the township receives 49 cents goes to the municipality, 34 cents to the county and 17 cents goes to the local school board.

General administration, protection and transportation services make up the largest chunk of municipal spending.
