The Township of Madawaska Valley is receiving over $80,000 in grant funding for its recreation ventures.
The first from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism worth $8,000 will be to the Opeongo Senior Centre and the local Friendship Club for special events.
The second grant for $77,500 will be going towards the extension of the Madawaska Valley Swim Program for all ages and will be using local business’ pools.
It will also go to a new swim program through the fitness centre.
Recreation and Community Development Coordinator Paul Nopper says the swim program is one of the most successful the township runs.
