The Killaloe OPP is reminding you to be careful for fraud on Facebook after an incident on the Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation.
Police say a resident received a notification that she’d won a Facebook contest, and lost $280 after paying to receive the prize.
You are being reminded that no legitimate contest will ask you to send money before you collect a prize. If you are the victim of fraud, police urge you to call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
Constable Catherine Yarmel also says you can find out more about fraud in Canada’s Competition Bureau’s Little Black Book of Scams.
