Pet owners are being reminded they could face criminal charges for leaving their animals inside a hot car during the summer months.
That’s the message from the Renfrew OPP. Police say temperatures inside a vehicle can rise quickly, and animals can’t sweat and cool off like humans can.
If you’re heading out, police are asking you not to take animals with you if you’ll have to leave them inside a vehicle. The province is also reminding those that see an animal in a hot car to report it to police or the OSPCA.
