The Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP doesn’t want to see logging stopped in Algonquin Park.
The comes after the Wilderness Committee is petitioning the province of Ontario stop logging in the park. The committee thinks logging and the roads needed for it are have a bad effect on forest land within Algonquin Park.
The committee also believes the logging changes the composition of the forest and effects water flow, along with altering wildlife populations.
MPP John Yakabuski has responded, saying that logging makes Algonquin Park a better place, and doesn’t hurt it.
Yakabuski also says that logging in Algonquin Park isn’t just a job, but also a way of life.
Yakabuski says that the forest-management plan in Algonquin Park is world class in nature and that the logging is done to the highest standards. He says the logging is done in a way that doesn’t disrupt other activities in the park.
