OPP Reminding You It’s Illegal To Boat and Drink

The OPP is reminding residents that you should keep drinking and boating separated this long weekend.

The OPP is teaming up with the Canadian Safe Boating council to launch the Operation Dry Water initiative.

Around 40-percent of boating-related deaths on Canadian waterways are alcohol related.

OPP Sergeant Karen Harrington says being caught drinking and boating carries hefty consequences.

Harrington also says if you are going to enjoy some drinks this weekend, keep it separate from boating.

OPP are reminding you to call the police if you see someone drinking and boating.
