If you’re looking for something to do on Canada Day, you won’t have to look far.
This year, there will be festivities all around the township. In Barry’s Bay, events will be happening at both the Legion and The Railway Station including face painting, balloon animals, food, art activities, and outdoors games. Activities in both locations start at 11:00am, with The Railway Station wrapping up at 1:00pm and The Legion at 2:00pm.
Down Highway 62 in Combermere, the Community Centre will be the host of a community tree lighting, a BBQ, games for children, an open mic talent show and a local band. Everything in Combermere kicks off at noon and will go until about 6:30pm.
If you go east down Highway 60, Wilno will have events at the Polish Kashub Museum and Park. From noon to 5:00pm, residents can enjoy live music, horseback rides and treats, all free of charge.
At the end of the day, fireworks will be set off at dusk at Lakeshore Park in Barry’s Bay, starting between 9:45pm and 10:00pm.
In Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards, kids under 12 will be able to fish with the fire department between 8:30am and 11:00am.
Meanwhile, a rubber duck race will be taking part in Brennan’s Creek in Killaloe starting at 2:00pm, ducks can be purchased from the KHR’s Firefighter’s Association or St. Casmir’s Knights of Columbus for $5 each or 3 for $10. Some proceeds from the duck race will go to both groups, while cash prizes will be available for the first three ducks to win the race.
To round the day off, St. Andrew’s School Yard will be the host of live music starting at 5:30pm until 10:00pm, with fireworks starting at dusk.
