After nearly a decade, the Automatic Aid Agreement between Madawaska Valley and Hastings Highlands is complete.

The agreement sees Madawaska Valley Fire Fighters from the South Fire Hall responding to calls at 49 residences in Hastings Highlands. Fire Chief Corwin Quade says the reasoning behind the agreement is response time.

Since becoming Fire Chief two years ago, Quade says that getting the Automatic Aid Agreement done was one of his top priorities.

The agreement is mainly for structure and car fires, but Quade says if there’s another call in Madawaska Valley at the same time that will always be the number one priority for MVFD firefighters.
