Plane Heading To PEI From Pembroke Crashes, Three Dead

Three people are dead after a plane crash involving an aircraft that left Pembroke this morning.

According to reports from the Boston Globe, the plane crashed just before 11:00am at the Greenville Municipal Airport in Maine, about 240 kilometres north of Portland. The plane had left Pembroke Municipal Airport this morning around 9:00am and was scheduled to land in Charlottetown.

According to the Maine State Police, the pilot had declared an emergency because of engine problems and diverted to Greenville.

While the identities of the victims have yet to be released, the Globe reports that plane was Canadian-registered. The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration.
