It’s the final long weekend of the summer.
Labour Day means an extra day off on Monday for many, and a mad scramble for parents to get their kids ready for school, with most school boards starting classes next week.
OPP are reminding motorists that more cars will be on the road, including buses transporting students around, and you will see more bikes and people walking to school.
Rather than rush, police say to give yourself extra time to get where you’re going.
You should also be extra observant near school zones and keep speed down and watch for students crossing the road in unexpected locations.
Don’t forget to stop for crossing guards and stopped school buses with signal lights flashing.
OPP advise parents and caregivers to also talk to their children about the importance of being safe while out and about.
