Turtles Will be on the Move this Spring and You’re Being Asked to Watch Out

It’s that time of year when turtles will be coming out of hibernation, and onto our roads.

Local Turtle Expert Brian Ensoll says you have to be on the lookout while driving so you don’t hit them.

Ensoll says you can also help save turtles on the road by taking them across the street in the direction they were headed in.

He says the only type of turtle you have to handle differently is the snapping turtle.

Ensoll says personal safety has to be top of mind if you do want to help turtles on our highways.

Make sure to check the road in both directions for oncoming vehicles, and turn your four-way flashers on.
