Highway 60 could be earmarked for expansion through the possible addition of full bike lanes to the stretch through Renfrew County and into Algonquin Park.
It’s part of 8,000 kilometres of Ontario’s highways the province has identified as part of a $50 million investment for cycling infrastructure.
It means that should any road projects along the designated parts of the highway be carried out, an expansion of shoulders would include a bike lane.
Madawaska Valley’s Recreation Committee says it means if parts of Algonquin Park are on the plan it could make travelling between trails and campsites that much easier.
