The growing opioid crisis has prompted the province to increase the availability of overdose prevention kits in our community.
The province says it will be making 80,000 more naloxone kits available every year to front-line organizations across Ontario to help curb opioid overdoses. Naloxone is a drug that can prevent an overdose for up to 20 minutes.
The province has released a map to show where you can find these kits in Bancroft, Barry’s Bay, and communities across Ontario, along with information on how to properly use them.
The OPP has recently announced officers will also start carrying the drug, including those out of the Bancroft and Killaloe detachments.
