Hastings County is facing an acute homeless crisis because of a lack of affordable rental housing in the area.
That’s according to the Hastings Housing Resource Centre.
Housing Coordinator Reta Sheppard says many people in the area living on fixed or low-incomes just can’t afford the few homes that are available in the county.

The concern is that the lack of affordable housing will put people out on the street.
The Hastings Housing Resource Centre is calling on landlords and homeowners with extra rooms in the region to step up, and make vacant units available as soon as possible.
