Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is reminding residents to protect their property and to make sure they aren’t at risk of a theft.
The OPP says steps you can take to avoid theft include:
-Lock your home, garage and all out-buildings when away from home
-Take steps to identify your property by marking it and recording serial numbers
-Have a trusted neighbour keep an eye out if you plan to be away
-Do not announce your absence over social media
-Roll up your vehicles windows, remove the valuables, lock the doors and pocket the key
-Watch for suspicious people or activity in your neighbourhood
This comes after 13 break and enters in Renfrew, and over a dozen in Pembroke and Laurentian Valley.
